Well we are in the middle of the first month of 2019 and I just want to encourage those who may be feeling defeated already! Perhaps, last year presented with so many challenges that you are still trying to keep your head above water. Perhaps, you are making excuses of why this thing just won’t work. I am not trying to be rude by any means but if for some reason, your business is not working then you really need to look in the mirror. What are YOU doing that needs to be changed? I heard that the definition of insanity is doing the same thing over and over again while expecting different results. Unfortunately, many people operate their businesses in this manner. In spite of cash flow issues, vendor issues, reimbursement issues, etc, the business owner continues to operate in the exact same manner blaming many of the aforementioned issues for an evitable business failure. What if you were determined to bounce back and learn new skills in order to solve the problems that are presenting in your business. I had to do so in 2017–it was a very challenging year as we struggled with understanding insurance reimbursement. Notice that I said, we struggled with “understanding.” My dad once told me when I was very young that nothing is really hard if you understand it. If your business is struggling, there is something you do not understand. You may need to learn a new skill set. You may need to hire a more experienced advisor. You may need to implement new systems and policies. What is it that you need to do? Ask yourself the following questions: What is the problem? Then ask yourself: What are solutions to this problem? Write as many solutions as you can and then go through each solution and ask how can you implement the solutions. Weigh the pros and cons and then with strong faith, take action. You will be surprised at how your situation changes when you become accountable and solution focused! Although it took over a year, by 2018, we had figured out where the majority of our issues where coming from which significantly cut expenses and slowly patched red bleeding spots. I am looking forward to what the remainder of 2019 will bring as we are bouncing back like a brand new basketball that was once deflated! Feel free to share your stories below about how your company has bounced back from a challenge. I’d love to hear from you!
